“As a furniture and interior designer, I work with rooms as well as the objects within them. In my projects, drawing has always been a major part of both process and presentation. For me, drawing is the tool that can both explore and communicate my thoughts. When I was at art school, drawing was most important for me. I worked constantly to improve and was often disappointed with the results. It took years of practise before I finally felt that my pencil had become a reliable tool.
My projects often start with simple sketches and drawings that show concepts and shapes. These explorations can be both fast and accurate. While creating these images, I fall into a meditative state where I can reflect on the project. These drawings then follow me throughout the physical production of objects, models and furniture.
When presenting projects to others, I use drawings to help explain. I often find that images are easier to relate to than text.” […]
Esbjörn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Design from the Academy of Design and Crafts (Högskolan för design och konsthantverk) in Gothenburg (2019). He also studied Environmental Design at Tama Art University in Tokyo, courses at Dômen konstskola in Gothenburg and preparatory art studies at KV Konstskola in Gothenburg.
